“Hummus” is originated from the Arabic word meaning “Chickpeas.” Often served with pita bread or veggies as a side dish to any meal. Main ingredients include chickpeas, tahini, garlic, and lemon juice. Often topped with olive oil and some sumac or hot pepper if you desire. Here’s a simple recipe for you to enjoy. All of the ingredients are available in our store.
1 Can of Chickpeas
1/4 Cup of Lemon
1/4 Cup of tahini
1 clove of garlic
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, plus more for serving.
1/2 teaspoon of cumin (optional)
Salt to taste
2-3 tablespoons of water or juice from can
1 Bag of pita bread
Directions:
Add tahini and lemon juice to start in food processor. Add olive oil and remaining ingredients. Add salt to taste. Add additional water to create a more creamy hummus. Plate and add olive oil on top with garnish of parsley, sumac, or cayenne pepper if you wish to spice things up. Serve with warm pita bread or fresh veggies! Mmmmmm.
